What you'll be doing
This is a high-profile senior advisory role positioned at the heart of People’s Partnership’s corporate affairs activity, with the CEO as the primary stakeholder. The postholder will serve as a trusted adviser and close working partner to the CEO, requiring strong personal credibility, sound judgement and gravitas. The role is responsible for shaping and stewarding the organisation’s external corporate narrative, ensuring complex pensions and policy issues are communicated with clarity, authority and impact across priority audiences. Working closely with the Head of Public Policy & Research and senior colleagues across Policy & Public Affairs, Communications and Marketing, the role will lead CEO-led policy, public affairs and thought leadership activity. It will provide high-quality strategic counsel and ensure the CEO is consistently positioned as a credible and influential voice within the pensions sector and the wider financial services landscape.
- Act as a senior adviser to the CEO on corporate affairs, policy positioning and thought leadership, building a trusted and effective working relationship characterised by discretion, judgement and confidence.
- Lead and own People’s Partnership’s flagship CEO-led campaigns with cross-industry impact (e.g. transfers and value for money), setting direction, shaping narrative and coordinating delivery across Policy & Public Affairs, Communications and Marketing.
- Lead the CEO’s external engagement and events programme, securing high-profile opportunities aligned to organisational priorities, advising on audience strategy and positioning, and ensuring high standards across speeches, briefings and supporting materials.
- Author and oversee CEO speeches, briefings and thought-leadership content, translating complex and sensitive policy positions into compelling, accessible and authoritative messaging, while managing reputational and political risk.
- Develop, maintain and steward the organisation’s corporate narrative, ensuring it is coherent, current and consistently understood and deployed by ExCo members and senior spokespeople.
- Influence and align senior stakeholders across the organisation, working with Policy & Public Affairs, Communications, Marketing and Proposition teams to ensure externally facing messaging is joined-up, credible and effective.
- Identify and develop strategic external partnerships (including think tanks, industry bodies and commercial organisations) to enhance People’s Partnership’s policy influence and distinct voice in the sector.
What we’re looking for
- Significant senior-level experience (typically 8–10+ years) in strategic communications, corporate affairs, campaigns or speechwriting roles, ideally within financial services, public policy or similarly regulated environments.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical or policy material into clear, persuasive and authoritative messaging.
