12 month FTC Leicester / Hybrid – 1–2 days per week onsite ASAP start. We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to step into a busy, fast-paced payroll function supporting around 2,000 employees. This is an urgent hire, and ideally we’re looking for someone who can start quickly enough to benefit from a handover with the current Payroll Manager.
Sage 50 payroll experience is essential.
The role:
- You’ll take responsibility for a payroll operation covering approximately 2,000 employees across 12 monthly pay runs, managing a team of 3–4 Payroll Administrators.
- The current payroll environment is fairly manual, with a significant amount of spreadsheet-based activity, so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable rolling their sleeves up, getting into the detail and bringing structure and confidence to the function.
- You’ll need to be someone who can quickly understand what’s working, identify what isn’t, support and manage the existing team and ensure payroll continues to run accurately and on time.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong Payroll Manager / Senior Payroll experience
- Hands-on Sage 50 payroll experience – essential
- Experience managing complex, multi-payroll environments
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and manual processes
- Previous experience managing or developing a payroll team
- Calm, organised and resilient, particularly when inheriting a challenging payroll environment
- Available to start at short notice would be a huge advantage
The role is based from Leicester, but you’ll only need to be onsite around 1–2 days per week. Ideally, you’ll live within a reasonable distance so you can be flexible if the business needs you onsite.
