This role is ideal for teachers who enjoy variety and can confidently step into different classrooms inside a Prison to ensure learners continue to receive high-quality education. While you'll bring expertise from your own subject specialism, you must be comfortable delivering lessons across a range of curriculum areas and supporting learning beyond your primary discipline.
About the Role
This is a full time permanent position working Monday to Friday at HMP Millsike. As a Cover Tutor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning across the education department. You'll deliver engaging lessons, support learner progression, and help create a positive and inclusive learning environment. This is not a supply or temporary position. This is a permanent member of the teaching team who provides flexible teaching support across multiple curriculum areas.

- Work closely with colleagues, Learning Support Practitioners, and prison staff to provide coordinated support for learners.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement activities.
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from teachers of all subject specialisms who can demonstrate:
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
- Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to teach confidently outside your specialist subject area when required.
- Flexibility, resilience, and a positive approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to inclusive education and learner success.
- An understanding of differentiated learning and supporting diverse learner needs.
Experience within prison education is not required. Full training and support will be provided.
