Domestic Appliance/White Goods Engineer in York

This is a permanent, site-based role where you'll use your technical expertise to train others while enjoying regular Monday to Friday hours, a competitive salary and excellent job security. We'll provide all the training and support you need to become a qualified Workshop Instructor. Based at HMP Millsike, you'll lead our White Goods Refurbishment Workshop, where donated appliances including washing machines, dishwashers, driers are repaired and refurbished for reuse via our charity partner within the local community. Working alongside prisoners, you'll teach practical repair techniques, appliance diagnostics and PAT Testing, helping learners gain valuable skills and recognised qualifications that improve their chances of employment on release. Teach learners how to safely diagnose, repair and refurbish domestic appliances. Maintain high standards of quality, health, safety, security and workshop organisation. Monitor learner progress and provide coaching and feedback. Liaise closely with our charity partner to arrange deliveries and collections. Experience repairing and maintaining domestic white goods and appliances. Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across a range of domestic appliances. If you have the technical knowledge and a willingness to help others learn, we'll provide the training needed to become a successful Workshop Instructor. Every appliance refurbished in our workshop helps reduce waste, supports families in the local community and gives someone in custody the opportunity to develop valuable skills for employment after release.
