We are seeking a dedicated Warehousing & Logistics Industry Instructor to manage the daily operations of the prison's central industry stores, overseeing a team of up to 18 prisoners. This role involves training and assessing prisoners towards warehousing and logistics qualifications (e.g. Level 1/2), managing the secure storage of all products made across industries for external employers, and ensuring efficient stock control and movement of goods.

What you'll do:

  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment aligned with prison and industry standards.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the warehousing and logistics workshop/stores area.
  • Deliver warehousing and logistics training, supporting prisoners to achieve accredited qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds, NOCN).
  • Provide guidance, coaching and constructive feedback to develop prisoners' skills, knowledge, and work behaviours.
  • Receive, record, store, and dispatch all products made within Industries, maintaining accurate stock control systems.
  • Manage the safe movement and storage of goods, using appropriate manual handling and logistics procedures.
  • Develop and implement daily work schedules for prisoners, setting clear productivity targets and quality standards.
  • Monitor and report progress against Contract Delivery Indicators (CDIs) and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Conduct health and safety risk assessments, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
  • Train prisoners in safe working practices, including manual handling and use of equipment.
  • Maintain strict control and accountability of all tools and equipment, ensuring compliance with the Local Security Strategy (LSS) and National Security Framework (NSF).
  • Record attendance, approve hours worked, and maintain accurate records on prisoner productivity and achievement.
  • Provide relevant information for reports (sentence planning, parole, ACCT, SIRs) and contribute to IEP documentation where required.
  • Participate in self-audits, meetings and reviews with prison management and external stakeholders.

What you'll need:

  • Recognised qualification in Warehousing & Logistics (e.g. NVQ, C&G, NOCN).
  • A teaching qualification (PTLLS, AET, CET) or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience in warehousing/logistics operations, ideally in a supervisory or instructional role.
  • Level 3 Assessors Qualification or willing to work towards.
  • Experience using inventory/stock management systems.
