Support young people. Build confidence. Create pathways into work. PeoplePlus, together with our expert delivery partners, is recruiting for a range of roles to support the delivery of the Jobs Guarantee programme across North & East Scotland. We are looking for a passionate, supportive and motivated Youth Coach to join our team and help young people move towards meaningful, sustainable employment. This is a remote/home-based role, but it is not a fully remote/no-travel position. You will need to be based in Scotland and able to travel regularly across the Scottish region, particularly across North and East Scotland, to meet participants, employers, delivery partners and local stakeholders, as well as attend recruitment activity and events. As part of our coordinated recruitment campaign, applications will be managed by the relevant expert delivery partner based on the area and role to which you have applied. As a Youth Coach, you'll be the named point of contact for your participants, providing personalised support from their first meeting through to job start, in-work support and successful transition or exit. You'll get to know each participant as an individual, understanding their strengths, aspirations, barriers and support needs. Working closely with Employer Engagement Officers, delivery partners, employers and local services, you'll help participants build confidence, develop their skills, overcome barriers and connect with the right employment opportunities. Most importantly, you'll be there to support participants once they start work, helping them settle into their new role, overcome challenges and progress towards sustained employment, apprenticeships, education or further training. What you'll be doing You will: · Act as the named point of contact for participants from initial engagement through to completion or exit, providing continuity and building a positive participant experience. · Contact referred participants within agreed timescales, arrange initial meetings and support engagement using their preferred communication method. · Complete a thorough diagnostic assessment to understand each participant's strengths, aspirations, barriers, support needs, job goals and any safeguarding or adjustment requirements. · Co-produce and regularly review Individual Support Plans, matching profiles and risk plans, ensuring these accurately reflect participant needs and progress. · Provide personalised pre-employment coaching, helping participants develop confidence, routines, CVs, interview skills, communication, teamwork, reliability, budgeting, travel planning, digital skills and workplace awareness. · Adapt the level of support according to individual need, including providing more intensive support to participants at risk of disengagement and making specialist referrals where appropriate. · Identify and help remove practical barriers to engagement and employment, making appropriate use of the Participant Support Fund. · Work closely with Employer Engagement Officers, delivery partners and local services to match participants with suitable, safe and meaningful employment opportunities. · Consider each participant's skills, aspirations, support needs, location and travel requirements when identifying suitable opportunities. · Use relevant systems, including ICONI and Genius Finder, alongside Individual Support Plans, to inform matching decisions, track progress and maintain accurate case records. · Prepare participants for interviews, employer introductions, job starts and the transition into work. · Support participants and employers through job start and early workplace stabilisation, including first-week planning, orientation, workplace routines and adjustment planning. · Provide regular in-work support during the first four weeks and throughout the funded employment period, increasing contact where early warning signs or additional support needs arise. · Recognise and respond appropriately to issues such as absence, lateness, anxiety, workplace conflict or safeguarding concerns, escalating or referring where necessary. · Build strong three-way communication between participants, employers and relevant support services to clarify expectations, agree adjustments, resolve issues and promote sustained employment. · Act quickly when a participant disengages, loses contact or a placement breaks down, supporting rapid re-engagement and re-matching wherever possible. · Support participants with transition planning from the start of their journey, helping them understand the steps needed to move towards sustained employment, apprenticeships, further education or training. · Increase support during the final stages of the programme to help participants prepare for a successful transition and next step. · Complete accurate and timely case notes, progress updates, completer summaries and notifications in line with programme requirements. · Ensure all participant activity meets safeguarding, data protection, quality and grant requirements. · Work collaboratively with colleagues, employers, delivery partners and local services to provide a coordinated and consistent experience for participants. What we're looking for We're looking for someone who is passionate about helping young people achieve their potential, builds trust easily and can provide the right balance of encouragement, challenge and practical support. You'll ideally have: · Experience supporting young people or adults towards employment, education, training or personal development. · Experience in employability, youth work, coaching, careers advice, recruitment, education, training or a similar people-focused role. · Strong coaching, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trust with participants from a wide range of backgrounds. · A person-centred approach and the ability to understand individual strengths, aspirations, barriers and support needs. · Confidence helping people overcome practical and personal barriers to employment. · Experience supporting people through transitions, such as moving into work, education, training or other positive destinations. · The ability to motivate and encourage participants while also providing constructive challenge and accountability. · Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a caseload, prioritise activity and meet agreed timescales. · Good attention to detail, particularly when maintaining participant records, action plans and evidence. · Confidence working with employers and other stakeholders to create positive outcomes for participants. · The ability to identify when additional or specialist support is needed and make appropriate referrals. · A good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, data protection and professional boundaries. · A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach. · A full driving licence and ability to travel regularly across Scotland. Experience of working with young people who face barriers to employment, including those who may need additional or intensive support, would be advantageous. The important bit – location and travel This role is home-based, giving you the flexibility to work from home. However, the role involves regular travel across Scotland, particularly across North and East Scotland, to meet participants, employers, delivery partners and local stakeholders. You must live in Scotland and be able to travel as required for the role. Because of the geographical nature of the role, you'll need to be comfortable managing a varied diary of virtual and face-to-face appointments and spending time out in the community supporting participants and building local relationships. How we'll measure success You'll make a real difference by: · Building positive, trusting relationships with participants and providing consistent support throughout their journey. · Helping participants understand their strengths, develop confidence and work towards realistic employment goals. · Supporting participants to overcome barriers and access appropriate employment opportunities. · Matching participants with safe, meaningful employment that reflects their skills, aspirations, support needs and circumstances. · Supporting successful job starts and helping participants settle into the workplace. · Providing effective in-work support that helps participants sustain employment and resolve challenges early. · Responding quickly to disengagement or placement breakdown and supporting successful re-engagement or re-matching. · Helping participants progress into sustained employment, apprenticeships, education or training. · Working effectively with employers, Employer Engagement Officers, delivery partners and local services to provide coordinated support. · Maintaining accurate, timely and high-quality participant records and evidence. · Ensuring all activity meets safeguarding, quality, data protection and programme requirements. · Creating a positive participant experience and contributing to improved employment outcomes across the Jobs Guarantee programme.
