We are looking for a Multi-Skills Technician to support our vocational construction workshops within a prison setting. Working alongside our Multi-Skills Trainer, you will help create a safe, practical, and engaging learning environment where learners develop essential trade skills such as plastering, painting and decorating, tiling, and dry lining. This is a rewarding and varied role, ideal for someone with a construction background who is committed to supporting skill development and rehabilitation through hands-on learning.
What you will be doing:
- Preparing and maintaining workshop spaces, tools, and materials for training sessions
- Supporting practical activities and demonstrations aligned with City & Guilds Level 2 qualifications
- Assisting learners with tasks, offering guidance and encouragement
- Managing tool inventories and conducting safety checks
- Promoting health, safety, and security standards in line with prison protocols
- Helping with administrative tasks such as attendance records and progress tracking
- Collaborating with prison staff to support learner success and workshop delivery
What we are looking for:
- A Level 2 qualification (or equivalent experience) in a construction trade
- Practical experience in trades such as plastering, tiling, painting and decorating, or dry lining
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A calm, confident presence able to support others and handle challenges constructively
- A genuine interest in motivating learners and helping them grow
- Willingness to work towards teaching or assessing qualifications if not already held
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience in a vocational or training setting
- Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths
- Knowledge of City & Guilds qualifications and workshop safety standards
- Aware of restorative practices or supporting learners with additional needs
