The Role

Vocational Tutor

Support learning across trades. Build practical skills. Change lives.

We are looking for a Vocational Multi Skills Tutor/Trainer to provide and support flexible, high-quality delivery across a range of subjects, including Carpentry & Joinery, Bricklaying, Multi-Skills Construction, Plumbing, Barista, Barbering Training, and Painting & Decorating. You will step into different vocational areas, delivering practical, engaging sessions that build skills, boost employability, and support rehabilitation. You will work flexibly, adapt quickly, and help create a positive, respectful learning environment for all.

What You'll Do

  • Deliver Practical Sessions: Teach hands-on lessons across multiple trades, supporting learners with different needs and experience levels.
  • Promote Employability Skills: Embed workplace behaviours like teamwork, communication, and professionalism into every session.
  • Integrate Digital Literacy: Use relevant digital tools (e.g. online tutorials, inventory software) to enhance modern skills.
  • Prioritise Safety and Security: Maintain strict tool control, follow H&S procedures, and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Adapt to Learners Needs: Adjust your approach for learners with low literacy, neurodiverse needs, or limited experience.
  • Foster Positive Behaviour: Use restorative practices to build confidence, responsibility, and mutual respect.
  • Track Progress: Monitor learner development, provide meaningful feedback, and set clear standards for achievement.
  • Work as Part of a Team: Collaborate with tutors, support staff, and Work & Skills Coaches to support learner success and progression.

What You Need:

  • Maths and English Level 2 (or equivalent)
  • Vocational qualifications or practical industry experience in one or more relevant trades
  • A teaching qualification such as PTLLS, AET, or CET (or willingness to work towards one we can support you with this!)
  • A calm, adaptable approach and confidence in managing groups and tools safely
  • A passion for inclusive education and supporting learners from all backgrounds
