Are you an experienced plumber who wants to use your trade skills for something more meaningful?
We're looking for a passionate Plumbing Vocational Trainer to deliver industry-focused training within a prison environment, helping learners gain recognised City & Guilds qualifications up to Level 3, develop practical plumbing skills and build the confidence and employability skills they need for a future beyond release.
You'll deliver engaging, practical training to groups of up to 18 learners, combining technical plumbing knowledge with literacy, digital and employability skills to create a supportive learning environment where everyone can progress.
What you'll be doing Deliver engaging City & Guilds Plumbing qualifications up to Level 3, covering core plumbing techniques, safety standards and industry practices.
Support up to 18 learners, adapting your teaching approach to meet different abilities, learning needs and starting points.
Develop learners' practical plumbing skills and prepare them for progression into employment or further training.
Incorporate literacy and digital skills into your teaching, including interpreting technical information and using workplace technology.
Build essential employability skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication and time management.
Plan and deliver engaging lessons that connect learning to learners' individual goals and future employment opportunities.
Carry out initial and ongoing assessments, creating and reviewing Individual Learning Plans to track progress.
Motivate and encourage learners, creating a positive, inclusive environment where they can develop confidence and succeed.
Work collaboratively with prison staff, education colleagues, Work & Skills teams and employers to support learners' progression.
Promote the plumbing programme across the prison, demonstrating the real-world opportunities available within the industry.
Maintain accurate learner records, attendance, assessments, ILPs and awarding body documentation.
Ensure high standards of health & safety, including appropriate risk assessments and safe working practices.

What we're looking for We're looking for someone with strong plumbing industry experience who can combine technical expertise with the ability to engage, motivate and develop others.
You'll ideally have: Relevant plumbing industry experience and strong technical knowledge.
Experience delivering, training or supporting vocational learning.
Knowledge of plumbing regulations, safe working practices and industry standards.
The ability to adapt your teaching style to different learning needs and abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
An understanding of health & safety and risk assessment.
A patient, supportive and motivating approach.
A genuine interest in helping people develop and progress.
Experience working within a prison, custodial, education or other secure environment would be advantageous, but isn't essential.
