We're seeking a practical, knowledgeable individual to join our education team within HMP Millsike, helping learners develop valuable construction skills that can lead to employment and reduce reoffending.
Teaching experience isn't essential.
If you have the trade skills, we'll support you to become a great trainer.
What you'll be doing You'll deliver engaging, practical construction training to small groups of learners, helping them build confidence, develop vocational skills and work towards recognised qualifications.
Your day could include: Delivering practical sessions in bricklaying, plastering, plumbing and general construction.
Demonstrating safe and effective trade techniques.
Supporting learners with varying abilities to achieve their goals.
Maintaining a safe and professional workshop environment.
Encouraging positive behaviours and helping learners prepare for employment on release.
What we're looking for We're interested in hearing from people who have experience in one or more of the following: Bricklaying Plastering Plumbing General building Multi-trade maintenance Construction and property maintenance You don't need previous teaching experience, but you should: Have substantial practical experience within the construction industry.
Be confident demonstrating your trade skills to others.
Enjoy supporting and motivating people.
Be organised, patient and approachable.
Be committed to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential, and support may be available to gain one if required.
