The Role
As a Tutor delivering education within prisons, you have the opportunity to create lasting, life-changing impact. This is a challenging yet deeply rewarding role, where your work directly contributes to improving opportunities, building confidence, and helping to reduce re-offending among learners. Our Tutors play a vital role in delivering engaging, inclusive, and learner-focused education across a range of subjects, including Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, Communication and Core Skills, ESOL, History, Business, Peer Training, and Employability.
Beyond teaching, you will inspire individuals to realise their potential, develop new skills, and make positive choices for the future. This role is centred on delivering high-quality education services while promoting a supportive and respectful learning environment through restorative practices. You will work closely with learners to encourage participation, achievement, and personal growth, helping them build the foundations for successful reintegration into society.
Please note: this is a part-time position based at HMP Polmont, working 15 hours per week across two days.

With more than 500 people working to support people with convictions in custody and in the community, we bring passion, experience and innovation to public sector rehabilitation services. We also work with specialist partner organisations to help people move away from their past and look forward to a brighter future.
All of our services are designed in partnership with the people we are trying to help and away from our direct work with people serving their sentences, we are working hard to change attitudes towards people who can often be tarnished unfairly following criminal convictions. Our Social Recruitment Framework brings together organisations to tackle any pre-conceived ideas about hiring people who have previously been involved in crime. We also work with employers on the Ban the Box initiative to support fair and equal recruitment processes and have engaged industry to influence our employer-led curriculum delivered to our learners.
