Job Description:
Our learning support staff at PeoplePlus work collaboratively with tutors and education staff to support learners with neurodiverse and inclusion needs, including those with disabilities. Their role is to promote an effective and inclusive learning environment, supporting learners throughout the week and screening prisoners with low-level reading ability. The successful Learning Support Practitioner will be passionate, creative, and empathetic, offering guidance and support to learners with diverse needs. The ideal candidate will inspire and support learners in their academic and vocational studies.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver education inductions.
- Collaborate with tutors and education staff to support learners with neurodivergent and inclusion needs, including disabled prisoners.
- Assist tutors with strategies for learners requiring additional support.
- Liaise with prison agencies (healthcare, residential, social work) to ensure support plans are in place.
- Promote an inclusive learning environment and support learners throughout the work week.
- Screen prisoners with low-level reading ability.
- Identify individual needs and develop tailored learning plans aligned with learners\’ future goals.
Support tutors in preparing and reviewing lesson plans based on current curricula such as Curriculum for Excellence and Social Practice Approach to Adult Learning.
