Help transform lives through skills and education. We are looking for a committed and adaptable Cover Vocational Tutor to join our Justice Services team. This is a unique opportunity to deliver meaningful learning that supports rehabilitation, builds confidence, and prepares learners for employment.

In this role, you will provide vital cover for vocational training, ensuring continuity of learning during staff absence while maintaining high-quality, engaging delivery. You will focus on practical skill development alongside employability, digital literacy, and personal growth.

What you'll be doing:

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on vocational lessons across a range of disciplines.
  • Promote key employability skills such as teamwork, communication, and professionalism.
  • Embed digital literacy into teaching to prepare learners for modern workplaces.
  • Plan and adapt inclusive lessons to meet diverse needs, including low literacy and additional learning needs.
  • Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement.
  • Use motivational and restorative approaches to build engagement, confidence, and participation.
  • Maintain strict tool security, inventory control, and health & safety standards.
  • Complete key administration including registers, ILPs, assessments, and compliance documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, prison staff, and support teams to ensure a consistent learner experience.
  • Support learners in developing their Employability Passport and preparing for qualifications.

What we're looking for:

  • Maths and English Level 2.
  • Vocational experience (e.g. construction trades, barbering, hospitality or similar).
  • Teaching qualification (Level 4+) or willingness to achieve.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet a wide range of learner needs.
  • Resilience and confidence in managing challenging group environments.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and equality practices.
  • Experience in lesson planning, delivery, and learner assessment.
  • Passion for supporting learners to gain skills, confidence, and qualifications.
  • Assessor qualification (or willingness to work towards).
  • Experience across multiple vocational subject areas.
  • Understanding of OFSTED EIF.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools (e.g. BKSB).
