We are seeking to recruit a Course Director for Foundation Programmes to lead and manage the Foundation in Design & Creative Business course. This role is pivotal in driving student engagement, retention, and progression within the College, ensuring that new cohorts are effectively supported and guided towards Level 4 and beyond.
The successful candidate will have a strong teaching record at Foundation level and expertise in creative practice, design, and/or creative business. They will lead a dynamic team, integrating industry-relevant learning experiences to enhance the blended nature of the Foundation course. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape a new curriculum area for us, collaborating with the Director of Programmes and contributing to research, recruitment, and external partnerships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Academic Leadership & Curriculum Development
- Set and maintain high educational and professional standards.
- Oversee lesson planning, curriculum development, assessment, admissions, and administration.
- Develop innovative cross-disciplinary teaching strategies and ensure a holistic learning experience.
- Provide academic and pastoral support, monitoring student progress.
- Maintain strong relationships with industry partners and professional bodies.
- Support recruitment initiatives and develop strategies for student progression and retention.
- Contribute to extra-curricular activities and external partnerships.
- Lead course team meetings, examination boards, and curriculum development initiatives.
- Manage multiple modes of delivery (including evening and weekend courses if required).
- Oversee programme delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the Foundation programme aligns with college-wide policies and initiatives.
- Engage in subject-specific research to advance the discipline.
- Encourage innovative problem-solving approaches in teaching and learning.
- Leverage digital tools to enhance the student experience and organisational effectiveness.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- Relevant BA and postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience of teaching and curriculum management at Foundation level in HE.
- Strong industry links in design, creative business, or related fields.
- Ability to design and deliver engaging, industry-relevant courses.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to inclusive education and student success.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills:
- PhD or higher-level research degree.
- Teaching qualification (PG Cert or equivalent) - candidates without this must complete a PGCert at LCCA during employment.
- Fellowship (or higher) of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (CMI, Design Council, etc.).
