Senior Credit Strategy Analyst | Consumer Lending
Plenty of analysts tell the business what went wrong last quarter. This role gets to decide who the bank lends to next.
Why this one stands out
Our client is an established UK lender that is investing heavily in data-led decisioning. They’re pulling strategy, analytics and automation together into one modern team, and they want an experienced credit strategist to help lead it. You won’t be producing reports for someone else to act on. The strategies will be yours to own.
You’ll bring
- A solid background in credit risk strategy, portfolio analytics or decision science within consumer lending
- Proven experience building and fine-tuning lending strategies, from acquisition and underwriting through to existing customer management
- Confidence working with credit bureau data and decision engines
- Strong SQL, ideally alongside SAS or Python
- A numerate degree (Maths, Stats, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or similar), or equivalent experience
- The ability to turn analysis into a commercial argument that senior leaders act on
Where you’ll make your mark
- Taking ownership of credit strategies across the lifecycle, then constantly testing and improving them
- Digging into portfolio data to spot emerging risks, trends and opportunities for growth
- Driving strategy changes on a large point-of-sale finance book
- Helping design the credit approach for new partnership and point-of-sale lending products
- Teaming up with the modelling team so every strategy gets maximum value from the scorecards
- Automating the repetitive work using SQL, Python or SAS
- Coaching and supporting more junior analysts
- Working with Product, Finance, Ops and Tech to bring big initiatives to life
Experience in personal loans, retail or point-of-sale finance, or unsecured credit, or a hand in launching new lending products, channels or partnerships.
The package
£60–70k base plus a discretionary bonus, hybrid working, a 35-hour week, a matched pension, strong holiday allowance, flexible benefits including healthcare options, extra time set aside for wellbeing, and plenty of room to grow as the lending business expands.
Hybrid, working from Manchester, London, the Midlands or South Wales. You’ll need to be UK-based and within commuting distance of one of these locations.
