Full job description Commodity Buyer Berinsfield, Oxfordshire Annual Performance Bonus + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays + Up to 5% Employer Pension + Career Progression + Cycle to Work Scheme Are you a Commodity Buyer, Engineering Buyer or Buyer with a technical mechanical background, looking to take ownership of specialist commodities and global suppliers within an established manufacturing environment? On offer is the opportunity to join an established specialist manufacturer within its Supply Chain team, taking responsibility for a portfolio of key suppliers across technically complex commodities. You'll work closely with engineering, production and suppliers, giving you the opportunity to combine your commercial purchasing experience with your technical understanding. In this role, you'll manage suppliers across areas including engines, mechanical components, composites and marine equipment. You'll place and manage purchase orders, obtain quotations against technical requirements, monitor supplier performance and ensure materials arrive in line with manufacturing and project deadlines. A key part of the role will be understanding the technical information behind what you're purchasing. You'll interpret engineering drawings, specifications and component information to obtain accurate quotations and communicate confidently with suppliers. You'll also manage suppliers on an international basis while maintaining purchasing information and delivery dates through the ERP system. This role would suit an experienced Buyer from a technical manufacturing environment, or someone who originally trained within mechanical engineering before moving into purchasing. A Mechanical Engineering BTEC, apprenticeship or similar technical background would be highly advantageous, particularly where this has provided an understanding of engines, mechanical components and engineering terminology. The Role Manage suppliers across specialist technical commodities. Obtain quotations from drawings and technical specifications. Place and manage purchase orders against manufacturing demand. Monitor supplier performance, pricing and delivery. Manage UK and international supplier relationships. Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. The Person Buying / procurement experience within a technical environment. Strong mechanical engineering knowledge or background. Able to understand technical drawings and engineering terminology. Manufacturing experience. ERP experience; SAP advantageous. Engineering BTEC, apprenticeship or similar advantageous. Commutable to Berinsfield, Oxfordshire.
