That’s why we need people like you. People who appreciate their role in helping others to be successful. Work orders don’t plan themselves — and that’s where you come in. As a Planner, you’ll be right at the start of the process, turning work requests into clear, achievable plans that set our operational teams up for success. You’ll be a key link between customers, operational colleagues and systems, making sure everyone knows what needs to happen, when, and how. This is a fast-paced role, ideal for someone who enjoys organisation, problem‑solving and being the go‑to person when things need sorting.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved in:

  • Planning and scheduling work for operational teams using a range of systems
  • Translating requirements into clear, accurate work instructions
  • Monitoring jobs from start to finish, tracking progress and updating systems
  • Acting as a first point of contact for operational teams, helping to resolve issues quickly
  • Liaising with colleagues and customers to manage expectations and priorities
  • Raising, processing and closing traffic management, footway and road closure notices and permits
  • Making sure all planning and permit activity is completed accurately and on time

We’d love to hear from you if you have experience working in a busy, fast‑moving environment where priorities change and decisions need to be made quickly. You’ll be highly organised, confident communicating with a wide range of people and comfortable using IT systems to manage work and data. A customer‑focused mindset is essential, along with the ability to stay calm, focused and proactive when juggling multiple tasks. If you like structure, problem‑solving and being at the centre of operations, this is a great opportunity to build a career within utilities.
