You’ll play a key part in enabling excavation, installation, and reinstatement activities, working closely with site teams to ensure works are delivered safely and in line with Clancy and Thames Water requirements.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved in:

  • Operating excavators above and below 10 tonnes to support water mains, service connections, and associated civils works
  • Driving and operating dumpers to move materials safely around site
  • Supporting excavation works, including trench preparation, backfilling, and reinstatement to specification

  • Carrying out daily plant checks, basic maintenance, and defect reporting
  • Completing job records, defect sheets, and site documentation accurately
  • Working safely in highways, residential areas, and public‑facing environments

We would love to hear from you if you have proven experience operating plant and machinery within the utilities or water sector and are confident working as part of a site team. You’ll have a strong safety mindset, particularly around safe digging practices and working near live services, and take a professional approach on customer‑facing sites.

You’ll hold relevant tickets including CPCS 360 Excavator (above and/or below 10T), Dumper, and a CSCS card, along with a clean UK manual driving licence. HGV Class 1 or Class 2, Driver CPC, B+E towing entitlement, and certifications such as Abrasive Wheels and Manual Handling are essential.
