Our client is a highly regarded groundwork and civil engineering contractor with a strong and growing portfolio of projects spanning earthworks, drainage, foundations, external works, and associated infrastructure. Off the back of continued business growth and a number of exciting new client wins, they are now looking to bring an experienced Quantity Surveyor into their commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute QS to join a business that is genuinely going places with a varied workload, a supportive team environment and a salary package that reflects real experience.
The Role
Joining a busy and collaborative commercial department, the successful candidate will take ownership of a range of projects and play a key role in the financial delivery of contracts. Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Preparing valuations and client applications
- Managing subcontractor procurement and payments
- Cost reporting and budgeting across live projects
- Handling variations and negotiating final accounts
- Carrying out measurement and take-offs
- Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and clients
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously with confidence
The Ideal Candidate
Our client is looking for someone who truly understands the groundworks and civils environment not just the numbers, but how projects run on the ground. The ideal candidate will bring:
- Solid experience within groundworks and/or civil engineering
- Strong commercial awareness and confident communication skills
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel and measurement/take-off processes
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
- Experience across residential and/or commercial projects (preferred)

Location: Office based — MK44 3WJ, Bedfordshire
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
