Our client, a leading organisation within the M&E infrastructure sector, is looking for an experienced HV Fitter to join their team on a major data centre project in Newport, South Wales.
This is an initial 3β4 month contract, with the potential for an extension. Following the initial project, the role is likely to develop into a position requiring travel across the Wales region, supporting a range of HV installation, maintenance and infrastructure projects.
The Role
As an HV Fitter, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of critical high-voltage electrical infrastructure, working alongside engineers, project managers and other site personnel to ensure projects are delivered safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain HV equipment and switchgear, including AIS and GIS systems up to 132kV
- Work on power transformers, protection panels, battery chargers and SCADA/telecontrol systems
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across customer and private networks
- Interpret technical drawings and set out installation works in accordance with design requirements
- Ensure all works are completed in line with relevant safety standards and procedures
- Support HV installation, upgrades and maintenance projects
- Work collaboratively with engineering and project teams
- Participate in standby and out-of-hours duties where required
- Travel to sites across Wales as the project requirements develop
About You
- Previous HV/DNO industry experience, either in the UK or overseas
- Must have experience on AIS and GIS systems up to 132kV
- Experience constructing, maintaining and operating HV equipment up to 132kV
- Recognised qualification in Electrical Power Engineering
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of HV and LV systems
- Previous experience working as an Electrician is advantageous
- Experience with HV switchgear, protection systems and associated equipment
- Competence using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to undertake standby and out-of-hours work
- Full UK driving licence β essential due to travel requirements
