We are seeking an experienced Environmental & Sustainability Manager to lead environmental compliance and sustainability performance on Sizewell C, a nationally significant nuclear infrastructure project. This senior, site-based role leads a multidisciplinary Environment & Sustainability team and provides assurance across construction, installation, commissioning, and handover. You will act as the primary interface with regulators, Tier 1 contractors, and senior project leadership, operating within a highly regulated DCO and permit-led environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental and sustainability compliance across a major nuclear construction site.
- Ensure compliance with DCO requirements, environmental permits, licences, consents, and ISO 14001.
- Manage and develop a site-based E&S team (c.10 staff).
- Drive environmental performance across Tier 1 contractors and supply chain.
- Lead site inspections, audits, monitoring, and environmental investigations.
- Act as primary interface with the Environment Agency and other regulators.
- Develop KPIs, reporting, and performance dashboards.
- Influence delivery teams across civil, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning phases.
- Promote best practice, continuous improvement, and a strong compliance culture.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven leadership of Environmental / Sustainability teams on large, highly regulated infrastructure or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and assurance frameworks.
- Experience working with principal contractors, clients, and regulators.
- Broad construction knowledge across major infrastructure or energy projects.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related discipline.
- Experience implementing Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
