Join People Station. At People Station, we help ambitious founders build high-performing organisations. We partner with scaling businesses navigating rapid growth, acquisitions, organisational change and performance challenges. Our role is to bring clarity, structure and confidence through change by building the people infrastructure that makes growth possible.

We're growing and looking for a Client People Operations Lead to become the operational backbone of our client delivery team. This is an opportunity to work directly with founders and leadership teams across a portfolio of growing businesses, gaining exposure to a breadth of experiences that would take years to accumulate within a single organisation. If you enjoy ownership, variety and making things happen, we'd love to hear from you.

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional in-house HR role. You'll become the day-to-day People lead across a portfolio of clients, ensuring projects move forward, actions get completed and clients receive an exceptional service. One day you may be supporting a manager through a performance issue. The next you could be implementing a new onboarding process, coordinating recruitment activity, improving workflows or supporting an acquisition integration project. You'll need to be organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Most importantly, you'll be someone who takes ownership and gets things done.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Client Delivery & Relationship Management
    • Act as the primary operational contact for a portfolio of client accounts
    • Attend client meetings and drive clear actions and outcomes
    • Build trusted relationships with managers and employees
    • Identify risks, issues and opportunities before they become problems
    • Ensure clients receive a proactive rather than reactive service
    • Escalate strategic or complex matters appropriately
  • People Operations
    • Manage end-to-end employee lifecycle activities
    • Prepare contracts, offer letters and employment documentation
    • Coordinate onboarding, probation reviews and offboarding processes
    • Support payroll, benefits and people administration activities
    • Maintain HR systems and ensure data accuracy
    • Ensure compliance and documentation standards are maintained
  • Employee Relations
    • Support managers with performance, absence, conduct and grievance matters
    • Draft documentation and coordinate processes
    • Provide practical and commercially-focused HR guidance
    • Escalate higher-risk cases when appropriate
  • Recruitment & Talent
    • Coordinate recruitment activity across multiple client accounts
    • Support job descriptions, advertising and interview processes
    • Manage candidate communications and offers
    • Deliver an outstanding candidate experience
  • Projects & Continuous Improvement
    • Support HRIS implementations and process improvements
    • Contribute to performance management and engagement initiatives
    • Create templates, playbooks and scalable ways of working
    • Support acquisition and integration projects
    • Help build a repeatable delivery model that enables People Station to scale

Who Thrives At People Station?

We're not looking for a traditional HR administrator. We're also not looking for someone who only enjoys strategic HR. We're looking for someone who combines exceptional organisation with great people skills. We often describe our ideal candidate as having a blend of high Blue and Yellow energy (using Discovery Insights terminology).

The Blue Energy

  • Love structure, process and attention to detail
  • Create order from complexity
  • Naturally take ownership and follow through on actions
  • Enjoy building systems and improving ways of working
  • Spot issues before others notice them
  • Take pride in delivering high-quality work consistently

The Yellow Energy

  • Build relationships quickly and naturally
  • Enjoy working directly with founders, managers and employees
  • Bring positivity, confidence and energy to conversations
  • Communicate clearly and professionally
  • Care deeply about delivering a great client experience
  • Enjoy helping others succeed

The sweet spot is someone who can build a brilliant process, maintain exceptional attention to detail and then confidently sit with a founder to help solve a people challenge. We're looking for someone who loves getting the ducks in a row but can also build trusted relationships with clients and managers.

You'll Thrive In This Role If You...

  • Love creating order from chaos
  • Naturally take ownership and accountability
  • Enjoy solving problems
  • Are highly organised and detail-oriented
  • Can manage multiple priorities without dropping the ball
  • Enjoy building systems, templates and processes
  • Balance pragmatism with strong people skills
  • Are comfortable working autonomously
  • Enjoy variety and pace
  • Want exposure to multiple businesses rather than a single organisation

This Role Probably Isn't For You If You...

  • Prefer highly structured corporate environments
  • Only enjoy strategic HR work
  • Dislike administration, process or operational delivery
  • Need constant direction and supervision
  • Struggle to manage competing priorities
  • Prefer focusing on one organisation rather than multiple clients

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years' experience in HR or People Operations
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law
  • Experience supporting managers across a range of people matters
  • Experience managing employee relations cases
  • Experience within SMEs, scale-ups or growing businesses
  • Experience with HR systems and process improvement
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

This role could suit:

  • A standalone HR Manager looking for broader exposure
  • A People Manager who enjoys being hands-on
  • An experienced HR Advisor ready for their next step
  • Someone who enjoys operational ownership and making things happen

Why Join People Station?

This is an opportunity to join a growing consultancy at an exciting stage of its journey. You'll work alongside ambitious founders, leadership teams and scaling businesses, helping them solve real-world challenges and build high-performing organisations. You'll have genuine ownership, exposure to a wide variety of situations and the opportunity to help shape how we grow. Most importantly, you'll play a key role in helping us build something exceptional.
