Deputy Chief Technology Officer (Active SC) Duration: up to 12 Months (6 months initially)
Location: Hybrid (South West)

We are working with a government body who are looking to hire a Deputy to the Chief Technology Officer to work closely with the SLT with the remit of transforming how they deliver across the organisation.
You will have experience in a similar C level role and will be used to working as part of the SLT in a large Public Sector / Governmental organisation.
NB. This role requires SC clearance from the outset and is a hybrid working set up.
Essential experience:
# A solid understanding of digital and data transformation in government and wider sectors.
# Experience of delivering complex, multi-faceted agile programmes
# Have a solid understanding of digital and technology
# Be an evangelist for agile and in-depth experience of working with and leading agile teams (including Continuous Integration, Automated Testing, Continuous Delivery)
# Be a strategic thinker and communicator, able to communicate with and motivate all stakeholder types
# Have experience of inspiring, motivating, and leading multifunctional teams within a technology environment
Duties:
Head up the Delivery and Software Engineering function (approx. 115 heads – Engineering and Delivery)
Collaborate with senior leaders to design and deliver innovative software technology solutions.
Govern key boards like the Design Authority to ensure technical excellence.
Shape recruitment, training, and retention strategies for tech talent.
Foster relationships across government, external sectors, and third-party partners.
Ensure delivery teams are equipped with the right skills, tools, and infrastructure.
Define and implement technology standards and governance frameworks.
You will also have the following experience:
Proven experience delivering digital and technology transformation.
Deep expertise in digital, data, and technology.
Strong leadership skills, inspiring and motivating multifunctional teams.
Advanced understanding of Continuous Integration, Automated Testing, and Continuous Delivery.
Outstanding communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
