People Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Capstan Setter / Operator to join our well-established engineering client based in Wolverhampton on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Capstan Setter, Machine Setter, Lathe Operator, Production Machinist, or similar engineering professional looking for a stable, permanent position offering day shifts, an early Friday finish, and excellent holiday entitlement.

Rates of Pay: £30,000 - £34,000 per annum, depending on experience

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Setting and operating Capstan lathes
  • Setting tooling and machinery ready for production
  • Producing components accurately and efficiently
  • Reading and working from engineering drawings and specifications
  • Adjusting machine settings and tooling where required
  • Using measuring equipment to check finished components
  • Working accurately to required tolerances and quality standards
  • Identifying and resolving machining or tooling issues
  • Monitoring production to ensure consistent quality
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience setting and operating Capstan lathes
  • Experience within an engineering, machining, or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Good knowledge of tooling and machine setting
  • Experience using measuring equipment
  • Ability to work accurately to tolerances
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • A reliable and proactive approach to work

  • Previous experience as a Capstan Setter
