People Solutions are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Shunter to join our well-established client based in Swadlincote, Derbyshire. This is a fantastic opportunity offering great rates of pay and room to grow and progress.

Shifts: Monday to Friday: AM SHIFT 06:00 to 14:30 PM SHIFT: 14:30 to 23:00

Pay rate: £19.23 - £20.01 per hour

Day to Day Duties

  • Shunting of 45ft and double deck trailers onto allocated bays.
  • Operate and drive various Class 1 vehicles in a safe and efficient manner to and from delivery locations.
  • Daily yard checks following site rules, health & safety guidelines.
  • Ensure all cargo is loaded and secured properly.
  • Adhere to traffic laws and regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers.
  • Report any vehicle defects or maintenance needs to management.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of one year driving, shunting and TUG experience.
  • Valid UK Category C+E Licence.
  • No more than six penalty points for minor infringements and no major endorsement codes.
  • Have a valid UK CPC Card & UK Digi Card.
  • Punctuality and excellent time keeping skills.
  • Have a good understanding of traffic laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication as they will be communicating with both Transport and warehouse, using a radio is essential to the role.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Training

  • Driver's Assessment will have to be completed.
  • Ongoing industry related training and support throughout.
