People Solutions are currently recruiting for Prep & Finishing Technicians to join our well-established client based in Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced technicians looking to work within a high-quality manufacturing environment, preparing and finishing components to exceptional standards.
The role involves preparing parts ready for painting, polishing finished components, carrying out quality checks, and supporting continuous improvement within a specialist production environment.
Shifts:
- Double days
- Week 1: Monday to Friday 06:00 – 14:00
- Week 2: Monday to Thursday 13:45 – 21:45
- Friday: 13:00 – 21:00
- Overtime available most weeks, including weekends
Rates of Pay:
- £16.75 per hour
- Plus shift allowance

Day-to-Day Duties:
- Preparing automotive components ready for paint application
- Polishing finished components to achieve the required surface finish
- Removing paint defects and carrying out rework activities
- Working with polymer and carbon components
- Carrying out quality checks and inspections
- Supporting continuous improvement activities within the department
- Maintaining equipment and ensuring tools are kept in safe working condition
- Following manufacturing processes and quality standards
- Supporting and coaching other technicians where required
- Maintaining a clean and organised workspace in line with 5S standards
Essential Skills:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, automotive, motorsport, or similar environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Experience preparing components for painting or finishing
- Experience with polishing, sanding, or achieving high-quality surface finishes
- Confidence using pneumatic tools and hand tools
- The ability to follow technical instructions and processes
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Desirable Experience:
- Automotive finishing
- Motorsport
- Spray painting processes
- Carbon fibre or composite component preparation
- Quality inspection / QC processes
- Coaching or supporting junior team members
Training:
