People Solutions are currently recruiting for a General Maintenance Operative to join our well-established client based in Newport. This is a fantastic opportunity offering a salary of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, a company vehicle or fuel allowance, excellent work-life balance and genuine career progression opportunities.
This role would suit candidates with experience as a Maintenance Operative, Property Maintenance Technician, Multi-Skilled Operative, Facilities Maintenance Operative, Building Maintenance Technician or General Builder.
Shifts- 40 hours per week
- Monday to Friday
- 08:00 – 16:30
- £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
- Company vehicle or fuel allowance of 40p per mile
- 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays

- Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across multiple commercial properties
- Completing general building repairs including roofing, cladding and external maintenance works
- Undertaking plumbing, joinery, tiling and basic building repairs
- Painting, decorating and internal refurbishment works
- Installing and repairing flooring, carpeting and fixtures
- Completing paving, drainage and external groundworks as required
- Carrying out site pressure washing and maintaining external areas
- Conducting grounds maintenance, site clearance and general upkeep activities
- Assembling, relocating and removing furniture and equipment
- Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures
- Recording work completed and associated costs using company systems
- Travelling between company locations across South Wales and the Midlands
- Minimum three years' experience within a building trade, facilities maintenance or property maintenance role
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Strong practical skills across a range of building maintenance disciplines
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
- Experience carrying out risk assessments and identifying workplace hazards
- Competent IT skills with the ability to record maintenance activities and expenditure
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Cladding and roofing experience
- CSCS Card
- Experience working across multiple sites
- Previous commercial property maintenance experience
