People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Carlisle, Cumbria. This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, ongoing work, weekly pay and immediate starts with a well-established transport operation. This role is ideal for experienced drivers looking for consistent afternoon shift work with trailer swap and drop duties.
Rates of Pay:
- £16.00 per hour – Monday to Friday
Shifts:
- Monday to Friday
- Afternoon start time: 12:30

Day-to-Day Duties: As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include:
- Completing Class 1 trailer swap and drop runs
- Operating Category CE vehicles safely and efficiently
- Carrying out pre- and post-journey vehicle inspections
- Ensuring all trailers and loads are secured correctly
- Adhering to all UK traffic laws and transport regulations
- Communicating effectively with the transport office and customers
- Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements
- Assisting with loading and unloading where required
- Completing paperwork accurately and on time
Essential Skills: To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver you will need:
- Valid UK Category CE Driving Licence
- Minimum 12 months' experience driving Category CE vehicles
- Valid Driver CPC Card
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card
- No more than six penalty points for minor offences
- No major endorsement codes
- Good spoken and written English
- Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
- Strong understanding of UK road traffic laws
- Effective communication skills
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience driving commercial vehicles
- Previous trailer swap and drop experience
Training Provided:
- Driver assessment required prior to starting
- One-day paid induction following a successful assessment
- Ongoing industry-related training and support
