People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 2 Driver to join a well-established client based in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. This is an excellent opportunity for drivers looking for consistent ongoing work with a pathway to a permanent contract. This is a nine-week temporary to permanent position for the right candidates. This role would suit candidates who have previously worked as a Delivery Driver, Multi-Drop Driver or Class 2 Driver.
Shifts:
- Monday to Friday (weekend work available)
- Various shifts available – earlies, lates, nights
Pay Rate:
- Monday - Friday: £15.00 per hour basic
- Saturday: £18.00 per hour basic
- Sunday: £22.50 per hour basic
You will receive a bonus of £0.50 per hour, subject to you completing all scheduled shifts that you are rostered for.

Day-to-Day Duties:
- Class 2 multi-drop deliveries (palletised goods)
- Operating Category C vehicles safely and efficiently
- Carrying out pre- and post-journey vehicle inspections
- Ensuring goods are loaded and secured correctly
- Adhering to UK traffic laws and transport regulations
- Communicating with the transport office and customers
- Assisting with loading and unloading when required
- Working with curtain side and rear-load vehicles
- Flexible working including nights out or tramping if required
Essential Skills:
- Valid UK Category C Driving Licence
- Minimum one year Category C driving experience
- UK CPC qualification
- Digital tachograph card
- Maximum of six minor penalty points (no major endorsements)
- Professional and reliable attitude
- Good communication skills
- Good level of spoken and written English
- Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
- Strong knowledge of UK road traffic laws
Desirable Experience:
- Previous commercial driving experience
Training:
- Driver assessment required prior to starting
- Ongoing training and support provided
