People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to join a brand-new transport operation offering excellent rates of pay, guaranteed ongoing work, a permanent contract after just 13 weeks, and a confirmed pay increase from October 2026.

With fixed routes, a modern fleet, and consistent shifts, this is the ideal role for drivers looking for long-term stability and career progression.

Rates of Pay:

  • £16.97 per hour
  • Overtime £22.57 per hour after 48 hours per week

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Start times between 03:00 and 06:00
  • 8 to 11-hour shifts
  • Saturday overtime available (05:00 start, finish by midday)

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Safely and efficiently operating Category C+E vehicles
  • Completing temperature-controlled trunking routes between distribution centres
  • Loading and unloading using pump trucks and tail lifts where required
  • Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks and reporting defects
  • Completing delivery paperwork accurately
  • Complying with Drivers' Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive requirements
  • Following all company health and safety procedures
  • Delivering a professional service at all times

Essential Skills:

  • A valid UK Category C+E Licence
  • A valid Driver CPC qualification
  • A valid Digital Tachograph Card
  • A minimum of 12 months' recent Category C+E driving experience
  • A good understanding of Drivers' Hours legislation
  • A reliable, professional, and safety-focused approach to work

Training:

  • Fully paid two-week induction programme
  • Classroom-based training and buddy support
  • Short theory assessment covering road safety and hazards
  • Approximately 30-minute practical driving assessment
  • Ongoing training and support throughout your assignment
  • Industry-related training provided
  • Ongoing support throughout
