People Solutions are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based at East Midlands Gateway, Derbyshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity offering competitive rates of pay, consistent Monday to Friday work, and the chance to secure a permanent position with a respected logistics company.
Shifts:
- Monday to Friday
- Start times between: 04:00 and 16:00
Rates of Pay:
- 06:00 – 18:00: £16.66 per hour
- 18:00 – 06:00: £20.82 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties
Your duties as a HGV Class 1 Driver are:
- Safely and efficiently drive Category CE vehicles, completing 3–5 trunk runs per day
- Operate curtain-sider trailers and secure all loads correctly (including awkward loads)
- Make timely deliveries to various destinations
- Communicate effectively with the transport team
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
- Ensure compliance with all driving laws and working time directives
Essential Skills
The essential skills required to be a HGV Class 1 Driver are:
- Valid UK Category CE Licence
- Valid UK CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
- Minimum of six months\’ continuous experience driving Class 1 (C+E) vehicles
- Maximum of six penalty points for minor infringements (no major endorsement codes)
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Professional and reliable attitude
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience securing and strapping abnormal loads
- Experience manoeuvring in tight delivery depots
Training Provided
- Driving assessment required prior to start
- Three-day paid company induction programme provided
- Full industry-related training and ongoing support throughout
