Job Description

HGV Class 1 Driver – Uttoxeter People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver, LGV CE Driver, Category CE Driver, C+E Driver, or Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire .

  • Start times between 15:00 and 19:00Rates of Pay• £17.28 per hour basic rate
  • Overtime paid at £21.60 per hour
  • Minimum 9.5 hours paid per shift

  • Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout your assignment Day-to-Day Duties As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include:• Carrying out RDC and brewery deliveries using curtain-side vehicles with no handball required
  • Operating and driving Class 1 (Category CE) vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Carrying out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Ensuring all loads are loaded and secured correctly
  • Adhering to traffic laws and regulations at all times
  • Communicating effectively with dispatch and customers
  • Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements to management
  • Completing all relevant paperwork and tachograph records accurately Essential Skills As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:• Valid UK Category CE Driving Licence
  • Minimum of 12 months' experience driving Class 1 vehicles
  • Valid UK Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
  • No more than six penalty points for minor offences and no major endorsement codes
  • Good level of spoken and written English
  • Punctual with excellent time-keeping skills
  • Good understanding of traffic laws and regulations
  • Effective communication skills and a professional attitude Desirable Experience• Previous experience driving commercial vehicles
  • Previous RDC delivery experience
  • Previous multi-drop delivery experience
  • Experience operating curtain-side vehicles would be advantageous Training Provided• Driver assessment must be completed before starting
  • One-day paid induction following successful assessment
