People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our well-established client based in Wigan on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased Mechanical Maintenance Engineer with electrical experience to join a successful manufacturing business, playing a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of site machinery and equipment.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday: 6am – 3pm
Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 per annum DOE

Day to Day Duties:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site machinery and equipment
- Responding to breakdowns and carrying out fault finding to minimise downtime
- Providing hands-on mechanical support, with electrical fault-finding where required
- Diagnosing and resolving equipment faults quickly and effectively
- Supporting the smooth running of the manufacturing plant through proactive maintenance activities
- Planning and completing preventative maintenance schedules
- Conducting root cause analysis investigations and implementing corrective actions
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Assisting with equipment upgrades and continuous improvement projects
- Managing contractors and ensuring all work is completed safely and to the required standards
- Working closely with production teams to maximise equipment reliability and performance
- Supporting compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures at all times
- Assisting with the sourcing of replacement parts, spares, and equipment when required
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience within a maintenance engineering role in a manufacturing, production, chemical, or process environment
- Strong mechanical maintenance background
- Electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
- Experience carrying out both reactive and preventative maintenance
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with production teams
- Good computer skills for maintaining maintenance records and reports
- Proactive and hands-on approach to engineering maintenance
Desirable Experience:
- Relevant Engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent)
- Experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience managing external contractors
- Electrical qualifications advantageous
