People Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Retail Area Manager – Edinburgh to oversee 10 fashion retail store locations across Edinburgh city centre, working on behalf of a well-established retail client. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on retail leader who can drive operational excellence, support and develop store management teams, and ensure stores consistently deliver strong commercial performance and outstanding customer experiences.

Shifts

  • Working 5 days from 7
  • 09:00 – 18:00
  • Flexibility required to travel between 10 store locations across Edinburgh city centre (all within walking distance)

Rates of Pay

£31,200 – £37,440 per year (£15.00 – £18.00 per hour) DOE

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Delivering or exceeding sales targets across all assigned stores
  • Analysing store performance data and implementing action plans to improve results
  • Supporting stores to deliver strong visual merchandising and brand presentation standards
  • Overseeing store rotas and staffing levels to ensure appropriate coverage and effective labour planning
  • Supporting Store Managers with recruitment, onboarding and team development
  • Ensuring stores operate efficiently and consistently following company processes and procedures
  • Maintaining stock loss and shrinkage within company targets through strong controls and accountability
  • Ensuring completion of all compliance, cash and operational audits
  • Driving high store standards and consistent execution of operational routines
  • Promoting safe working practices across all locations

Leadership & People Management

  • Setting clear performance objectives for Store Managers and reviewing progress regularly
  • Developing confident and capable management teams through coaching, mentoring and regular store visits
  • Supporting rota scheduling for each store, staffing levels and team organisation
  • Monitoring employee turnover and implementing actions to support retention and team stability
  • Managing underperformance fairly and in line with company policy
  • Proactively managing absence while supporting employee wellbeing
  • Acting as a role model for company values and leadership behaviours

Customer Experience

  • Driving improvements in customer satisfaction and online reviews
  • Ensuring customer service standards are consistently delivered across all stores
  • Supporting Store Managers in managing escalated customer complaints and ensuring timely resolution
  • Embedding a customer-first culture across all store locations

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in a multi-site fashion retail management role
  • Strong operational and commercial awareness
  • Confident leader with experience developing store management teams
  • Excellent organisation, planning and prioritisation skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable managing performance, staffing challenges and operational change
  • Good understanding of retail compliance, health and safety and HR practices

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in a premium or high-end fashion retail environment is advantageous
