People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Transport Manager to join our well-established client based in Coventry. This is an exciting opportunity to join a market-leading organisation where you will play a key role in managing transport, warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring customers receive a first-class delivery service while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, safety and operational performance.

This role will suit candidates with experience as a Transport Manager, Distribution Manager, Logistics Manager, Warehouse & Transport Manager, Operations Manager, Depot Manager or Distribution Centre Manager.

Salary: £39,140 per annum

Shifts:

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Shift-based role
  • Flexibility required to support operational requirements
  • Some evening and weekend working required
  • No Sunday working

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Managing warehouse and transport operations to ensure customer orders are delivered accurately and on time
  • Overseeing the unloading, receiving and storage of goods within the distribution centre
  • Ensuring stock is handled safely and maintained in excellent condition
  • Managing vehicle utilisation and reducing the risk of vehicle overloading
  • Ensuring all vehicles are maintained, inspected and serviced in line with legal requirements
  • Managing driver compliance, qualifications and training records
  • Monitoring transport costs and ensuring the efficient use of vehicles and resources
  • Managing stock control processes and stock accuracy within the warehouse
  • Leading, motivating and developing warehouse and transport teams
  • Delivering training in safe moving, handling and loading procedures
  • Managing third-party suppliers and transport providers where required
  • Ensuring warehouse security procedures are maintained at all times
  • Managing Health & Safety compliance across the warehouse and transport operation
  • Producing management reports on operational performance, delivery service and KPIs
  • Handling customer enquiries and resolving issues to maintain excellent customer satisfaction levels

Essential Skills:

  • Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • Previous experience in a Transport Manager, Logistics Manager, Distribution Manager or similar leadership role
  • Experience within a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Experience coaching, developing and motivating teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Strong knowledge of transport compliance, fleet management and Health & Safety regulations
  • Experience managing KPIs, operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering excellent service
  • Flexibility to support evening and weekend operational requirements

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience managing both warehouse and transport operations
  • Experience within a fast-paced distribution environment
  • Previous responsibility for compliance, fleet management and operational performance
