People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Burton upon Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for drivers looking for consistent ongoing work, excellent rates of pay, and a genuine pathway to a permanent contract with a reputable transport operation.
This role would suit candidates with experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver, LGV Class 1 Driver, Category C+E Driver, CE Driver, General Haulage Driver, or Tramper Driver.
Shifts
- Monday to Friday (weekend work available)
- Various early and late shifts available to suit
Rates of Pay
- Monday to Friday: £15.00 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties
- Completing general haulage deliveries throughout the UK
- Carrying out pre- and post-journey vehicle inspections
- Working flexible shifts, including nights out and tramping where required
- Ensuring all goods are loaded and secured correctly before transport
- Adhering to UK road traffic legislation and transport regulations
- Communicating effectively with the transport office and customers
- Assisting with loading and unloading when required using curtain-side and rear-loading vehicles
- Completing all relevant transport documentation accurately
Essential Skills
- A valid UK Category C+E (Class 1) Driving Licence
- A minimum of one year's Class 1 driving experience
- A valid UK CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
- No more than six penalty points for minor infringements
- No major endorsement codes
- Professional and reliable approach to work
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Good spoken and written English
- Strong punctuality and timekeeping
- Good understanding of UK road traffic legislation
Desirable Experience
- Previous commercial Class 1 Driving experience
- General haulage experience
- Experience with curtain-side trailers and nights out
Training Provided
- Driver assessment prior to starting
- Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout your assignment
