People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Production Machine Operative to join our well-established manufacturing client based in Alfreton, Derbyshire (DE55). This is a fantastic opportunity offering competitive rates of pay, ongoing work, and genuine opportunities for growth and progression within a reputable and growing business.
This role would suit candidates who have previously worked as a Machine Operative, Machine Setter or Manufacturing Operative. You must be able to travel to Alfreton for this role.
Shifts:
- Four on, four off rotating shifts
- Start times: 06:00 – 18:00 and 18:00 – 06:00
- Flexibility to work both day and night shifts is required
- Rota provided in advance
- Three thirty-minute paid breaks
Rates of Pay:
Pre-twelve weeks:
- £12.80 per hour (standard hours)
- £19.20 per hour (out-of-hours once all shifts are completed)
- £25.60 per hour (Saturday 18:00 – Sunday 18:00)
Post-twelve weeks:
- £15.21 per hour (standard hours)
- £19.41 per hour (out-of-hours once all shifts are completed)
- £25.88 per hour (Saturday 18:00 – Sunday 18:00)

Day-to-Day Duties:
- Assisting with the operation and basic maintenance of production lines
- Setting and operating machinery
- Reading and following detailed work instructions accurately
- Monitoring and checking products to ensure quality standards are met
- Packing items and weighing products
- Using computers and production-based technology
- Adhering strictly to all health and safety procedures
Essential Skills:
- Ability to carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving materials
- Strong attention to detail
- Confidence following written and verbal instructions
- Previous experience working in a food production environment
- Previous machine operative or machine-setting experience
- Comfortable using technology and computer systems
- A team-focused attitude with the ability to meet production targets
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience within a production or manufacturing environment
- Available to start work as soon as possible
Training:
- Full company policy and procedures training
- Numeracy and literacy test to be completed prior to starting
