People Solutions are currently recruiting for an Operational Quality Engineer to join a highly regulated engineering organisation. This is a key position within the Quality Function, responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing and operational processes are carried out in full compliance with contractual specifications, quality standards, and internal business processes. Reporting to the Operational Quality Manager or Head of Quality, you will be responsible for day-to-day operational Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities, supporting manufacturing, inspection, despatch, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a critical role in supporting the organisation’s vision of delivering an industry class-leading QA and QC capability, with a strong focus on quality, productivity, and EHS standards.
Shifts: Monday to Friday, standard working hours
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000, dependent on experience

Day-to-day duties:
- Carrying out goods inwards inspections, including document review and physical inspection
- Raising, managing, and closing Supplier and Operational Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Managing traceability control, including audits and patrol inspections throughout the manufacturing facility
- Conducting routine patrol inspections of operational and manufacturing areas
- Ensuring compliance with route cards, MITPs, and quality plans
- Supporting route card operations in line with planning system requirements
- Liaising with client inspectors for GRNs, inspection witnessing, and MITP sign-off
- Supporting and expediting the Operational NCR process
- Leading and participating in Root Cause Analysis activities
- Supporting dismantling inspections where required
- Supporting despatch and final release activities
- Supporting internal audit activities
- Assisting in the development, review, and improvement of quality procedures and processes
- Driving and supporting continuous improvement projects
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with quality, EHS, and regulatory requirements
Essential skills:
- Proven experience in an Operational Quality / Quality Control role
- Experience working within a highly regulated industry
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, EN 3834, and EN 1090
- Lead or Internal Auditor qualification in ISO 9001
- Proven experience generating and managing NCRs
- Experience working to Quality Control Grading
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and process compliance
- Strong practical problem-solving skills
- Experience with structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5S, 7W, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across operational teams
Desirable experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance or a related discipline
- Background in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business Management
- Six Sigma or equivalent continuous improvement training
- Engineering qualification
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CQI) or willingness to attain
Security & Compliance: Ability to obtain BPSS and SC clearance is a conditional requirement of this role.
Training: Industry-related training and ongoing professional development will be provided.
