People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Manchester (Salford). This is an excellent temporary-to-permanent opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, regular day shifts, no handballing, ongoing work, and the chance to join a professional transport operation within a busy logistics environment.

This role would suit candidates with experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver, Class 1 Driver, LGV Class 1 Driver, Category CE Driver, CE Driver, C+E Driver, HGV Driver, Shunter Driver, Yard Driver, or Articulated Lorry Driver.

Shift Pattern

  • Day shifts
  • Start time: 06:00
  • 8–10-hour shifts

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Operating Category CE (HGV Class 1) vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Shunting trailers and carrying out trailer swap operations
  • Moving vehicles between sites across the North West
  • Completing daily vehicle safety inspections before and after each shift
  • Reporting vehicle defects and maintenance issues promptly
  • Communicating effectively with the transport office regarding operational updates or delays
  • Complying with Driver Hours Regulations, the Working Time Directive, and UK road traffic legislation
  • Completing all delivery and transport paperwork accurately
  • Maintaining high standards of professionalism and vehicle care throughout each shift

Essential Skills

  • A valid UK Category CE (HGV Class 1) Driving Licence
  • A valid Driver CPC Qualification Card
  • A valid Digital Tachograph Card
  • Minimum of two years' HGV Class 1 (Category CE) driving experience
  • No more than six penalty points for minor offences (no IN10, DR10, or DD10 endorsement codes)
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to successfully complete a one-hour practical driving assessment, including on-road driving
  • A professional, reliable, and safety-focused approach to work

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience completing shunting, trailer swaps, trunking, or yard movements would be advantageous
  • Experience working within a busy transport or logistics environment
