People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Bakery Operative to join our well-known client based in Newton Heath (M40). This is an excellent opportunity offering long-term work, progression, and development for the right candidates. This role is ideal for motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude who are keen to develop new skills within a fast-paced food production environment. This is a temp to perm opportunity for the right candidates.

Shifts:

  • 12-hour shifts on a rotating pattern:
  • 4 day shifts: 06:30 – 18:30
  • 4 days off
  • 4 night shifts: 18:30 – 06:30
  • 4 days off
  • Pattern then repeats

Rates of Pay:

  • £14.01 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Working within the production department of a food manufacturing site, you will be responsible for:
  • Working on a production line in a hot environment, overseeing machines and ensuring efficient production
  • Packing to meet product specifications and carrying out quality checks
  • Responding to machine or product issues and reporting to the supervisor
  • Completing all relevant paperwork while maintaining high safety standards
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised working environment in line with Health & Safety and Food Safety standards
  • Setting up and operating bagging machines, bag sealers, check weighers, metal detectors and basket fillers, including HACCP points
  • Monitoring the quality of all products ex-oven against current standards and recording all relevant information (weight, temperature etc.)
  • Ensuring all equipment and machinery is safe to operate and functioning correctly, escalating any issues through the correct channels

Essential Skills:

  • English level must be communicative
  • PPE required: Safety boots & hi-vis
  • A minimum of 6 months’ experience in one of the following: Bakery production / Food manufacturing / Manufacturing in a factory environment / Machine operating

Desirable Experience:

  • Good communication skills and positive attitude
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Food Safety and Health & Safety knowledge

Training Provided:

  • 6-week training programme provided
  • Interview and site tour provided
