People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Technical Product Specialist to join a forward-thinking and growing business on a full-time permanent basis. This is a customer-facing technical role offering strong exposure to industry bodies, customers, and internal product development teams, with genuine long-term career progression into a deep industry authority position.
This position is ideal for candidates with a strong mechanical or electromechanical background who enjoy solving customer problems, delivering training, and representing high-quality technical products in the market. This position would suit applicants who have worked in a role as a Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer or Electromechanical Technician.
Shifts:
- Monday to Friday
- 09:00 – 17:00 (37.5 hours per week)
Salary:
- £32,000 – £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Day to Day Duties: As a Technical Product Specialist, your day-to-day duties will include:
- Providing technical customer support across B2B and B2C channels
- Acting as the technical authority for products already in market
- Producing product specifications for customer projects and applications
- Managing product certifications, including renewals and new submissions
- Designing and managing complex master keying (MK) systems
- Evaluating and supporting smart / electronic locking technologies
- Delivering internal training and external training to customers, distributors, and locksmiths
- Maintaining working relationships with industry bodies and standards panels
- Contributing technical substance to patent filings alongside the Product Development Lead
- Gathering competitor and market intelligence through customer and industry engagement
- Representing the company with customers, partners, and technical forums
Essential Skills: The skills required to be a Technical Product Specialist are:
- Industry experience within locks, high-security hardware, access control, automotive locking, or a related field
- Strong mechanical or electromechanical aptitude
- Excellent communication skills with confidence dealing directly with customers
- Experience explaining technical concepts clearly to varied audiences
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities
- Confidence delivering technical training sessions
- Proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach
Desirable Experience:
- Background in technical specification, applications engineering, or technical sales support
- Exposure to smart locking, electronic access control, or integrated systems
- Experience working with certification bodies or compliance processes
- Comfort working across both mechanical and electronic product ranges
