Job Description

HGV Class 1 Driver

People Solutions are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Solihull, West Midlands.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a well-known supplier of household goods with plenty of ongoing work available. 

Shifts:

Monday – Friday: Start times – 03:00 – 06:00 (some weekend availability require)

Rates of Pay:

£17.00 – £20.35 per hour

Day to Day Duties  

Your duties as a HGV Class 1 Driver will involve but not limited to: 

  • Operate and drive various Category CE vehicles safely and efficiently 
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Ensure all cargo is loaded and secured properly
  • Adhere to traffic laws and regulations
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers
  • Maintain accurate records of shipment, mileage, and fuel consumption 
  • Report any vehicle defects or maintenance needs to management 
  • Assist with loaded and unloading of cargo as needed

Essential Skills:  

As a HGV Class 1 Driver you will need to:  

  • Hold a valid UK CE Licence  
  • Have a minimum of twelve months experience driving a CE vehicles
  • No more than six penalty points and no major endorsement codes
  • Have an in-date UK CPC Card & UK Digi Card
  • Must be able to speak and read a certain level of English
  • Experience operating various trailer types
  • Punctuality and excellent time keeping skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Flexibility and availability to work overtime as and when required
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience driving any commercial vehicles would be beneficial

Training:

  • Industry related training and ongoing support throughout
