Are you a skilled instructor or hands-on professional looking for a varied and rewarding role? Do you thrive in practical, hands-on environments where no two days are the same? At HMP Millsike, we’re looking for a Cover Workshop Facilitator to step in and lead workshops across multiple industries, ensuring that operations continue smoothly during periods of staff absence. This is a key role in maintaining structured, skill-building activities for prisoners, supporting their rehabilitation and future employability.

Working Hours: This is a full-time role, 38.5 hours per week, with the following schedule:

  • Four days per week: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • One half-day per week: either 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM or 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead & Train: Deliver practical, hands-on training across manufacturing, cleaning, waste management, and horticulture workshops.
  • Engage & Motivate: Keep prisoners engaged in purposeful activity, supporting their personal and professional development.
  • Ensure Safety & Compliance: Conduct risk assessments, maintain tool security, and follow health and safety protocols tailored to each workshop.
  • Adapt & Problem-Solve: Seamlessly transition between different workshop environments, ensuring continuity and high standards.
  • Record & Report: Maintain accurate attendance records, track learner progress, and contribute to rehabilitation plans.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Hands-on experience in a trade, workshop, or vocational training environment (manufacturing, industrial operations, cleaning, waste management, or similar).
  • Ability to manage and engage groups, ensuring structure, motivation, and discipline in workshop settings.
  • Strong adaptability skills – able to step into different industries and quickly get up to speed.
  • Administrative competency – able to log attendance, track outputs, and maintain workshop documentation.
  • Commitment to safety & compliance – experience working within health & safety and security protocols is desirable.
