Personal Assistant – Experience with Autism required

We are seeking two Personal Assistants to support a 10‑year‑old boy living in Merthyr for up to 6 hours a week out in the community and an extra 5 hours of 1:1 care at home. The role requires experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum and a commitment to promoting safety, independence and social development.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote and ensure safety awareness during all sessions
• Encourage independence and confidence in a variety of settings
• Accompany the child on outings within the local community
• Facilitate sociability and interaction with peers
• Provide support with navigation and safety reminders
• Assist with transportation needs if a car is available (applicant encouraged to have a vehicle)

Schedule and Compensation

Work hours: 6 hours per week for community-based sessions and 5 hours of 1:1 home care. Pay: £15.50 per hour plus £0.40 per mile for mileage. Salary paid monthly by BACS.

Required Qualifications

• Trustworthy, flexible, reliable, honest and kind
• Experience with severe autism
• Adaptable with a positive attitude
• Car user preferred; having a vehicle would be helpful
• Will be subject to a three‑month trial period and a DBS check at no cost to the candidate

Training & Support

Full in‑house training will be provided by the existing PA and the family.
