Location of Role: Westerham, Kent

Description / Details of the Role: This role involves supporting a 7-year-old boy who is non-verbal and autistic. He is a happy child who enjoys the park, playing with cars, watching things move (cars on a track), Thomas the Tank Engine, and being outdoors. The role includes providing support to help him access community activities, SEN activities and clubs, with emphasis on personal care where needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assistance to enable the child to access activities in the community, SEN activities and clubs.
  • Personal care as required.
  • Toileting support (child wears nappies).
  • Use symbols to communicate current and upcoming activities; attempt symbol exchange to help him obtain things he wants (e.g., food).
  • Demonstrate patience and maintain a high level of supervision, as the child has no awareness of danger and may put himself at risk if he touches prohibited items or climbs and could hurt himself by falling.
  • Awareness of choking risk from small objects (child may put items in mouth).

Employment Details

  • Hourly rate of pay: Β£
    If over age 21 then it is Β£12.21
  • If under age 21 then it is Β£10.00
  • Hours available: Term Time – 3 hours per week; School Holidays – 6 hours per week.
  • Enhanced DBS check for working with children is required (arranged if an up-to-date clearance is needed).
  • Access to a car, a clean driving license and business car insurance.
