Job Purpose and work duties
(2 roles providing 1-2-1 support for 2 boys age 8 and 9)
Rate of pay β Β£12.21
Job purpose
To support my child within the home or accessing social opportunities within the community.
Child profiles
- 9 year old β He is a happy and fun loving active boy who loves football and all outdoor activities. He has FASD (Foetal alcohol spectrum disorder) ASD and ADHD. He is currently in mainstream school with a support package. He can present with some challenging behaviours.
- 8 year old β A happy and fun loving boy who loves animals and dinosaurs. He has FASD (Foetal alcohol spectrum disorder) ASD with PDA features and ADHD. He attends a therapy farm where this educational and developmental needs are met in an outdoor animal focused environment. He can present with some challenging behaviours including intense behaviour towards carers at time of significant anxiety.
Responsibilities
- Identify local social activities
- Motivating and encouraging them to take part and try new things
- Helping them to develop social skills
- Providing a fun, supportive and nurturing relationship
Other requirements
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication with the child and their parents, maintaining confidentiality.
- Always ensuring the safety of the child
- Establishing a trusted relationship with the child
Requirements for applicant
- Imagination in relation to activities to undertake
- Good sense of humour
- Flexible, reliable and honest
- Physically fit, agile and energetic
- Understanding of ASD, ADHD essential. (Understanding of a FASD an advantage)
- Full driving licence with business insurance within your policy
- DBS Check will be completed
