We are seeking two compassionate, reliable and detail-oriented Personal Assistants/Companion-Carers to support a lovely lady in her late 70s who is living at home with her husband following a major stroke in February 2025. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide one-to-one support and become an important part of a family's daily life. We are looking for carers who genuinely care about maintaining dignity, independence, comfort and quality of life.
About the Role: The lady you will be supporting was previously very active and independent and continues to take enormous pride in her personal appearance, cleanliness and the presentation of her home. Attention to detail, high standards of hygiene and a conscientious approach are therefore essential qualities for this role. The successful candidates will share approximately 38 hours per week between them, providing continuity of care throughout the week and covering one another's holidays where possible.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Assisting with thorough daily showering and personal hygiene, supporting regular toileting and continence care, including pad changes, assisting with transfers between bed, wheelchair and other seating using appropriate equipment and moving aids, encouraging and supporting daily physiotherapy exercises and movement routines, helping prevent pressure sores through regular repositioning and mobility support.
- Household Support: Laundry and ironing, general housekeeping and cleaning, changing and laundering bed linen, meal preparation and cooking, washing, drying and putting away dishes, maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming home environment.
- Community Support: Grocery and household shopping, accompanying and assisting with hospital and medical appointments, supporting outings into West Kirby for coffee, shopping or leisure activities, providing companionship, conversation and encouragement.
About You: The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous care experience, ideally supporting individuals following a stroke or with reduced mobility.
- Be warm, patient, kind and respectful.
- Take genuine pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Be attentive, organised and thorough in their work.
- Enjoy building a meaningful relationship with the person they support.
- Be dependable, flexible and able to work collaboratively with another carer.
- Be committed to promoting dignity, independence and quality of life.
Employment Details: This position is directly supporting an individual in her own home and will be paid via PPl, a professional payroll and employment support service. This provides the benefits of formal employment while allowing you to work closely with one family in a highly personalised care role.
What We Offer:
- A consistent one-to-one care and companionship role.
- A supportive family environment.
- Meaningful work where you can see the difference you make every day.
- Flexible shared working arrangement between two carers.
- Opportunity to build a trusted and rewarding relationship with the person you support.
If you are a caring, conscientious individual who understands the importance of dignity, respect and attention to detail, we would love to hear from you.
