I am an intelligent and articulate woman based in Camden looking for a female PA to support me for 4 hours per week. I am looking to employ a reliable Personal Assistant who can provide both practical assistance with administrative tasks and emotional support to help manage my mental health. It is of importance to me that I can build a trusting relationship with my PA where I feel comfortable and safe. I can communicate and understand information most of the time. At times I become overwhelmed by my emotions which impact on my ability to communicate with others, make sense of what is communicated to me and impacts on my decision-making abilities. I require consistency and continuity with professionals involved in my care to build meaningful relationships.

4 hours each week (Days and times will be flexible). Rate of Pay £18.50 gross per hour. Wages will be paid through payroll services.
Supervision
My personal assistant is accountable to me (the employer) in all aspects of their work. They should always ask what my needs are and listen to my directions and requests.
Main Duties
- Executive Assistant-style support with administrative tasks, including writing emails; liaising with services such as Housing Repairs, DWP, Health; form-filling; managing letters; scheduling appointments and overseeing referrals; planning for trips and travel.
- Support with decision-making. Talking through options; weighing up pros and cons to me; planning ahead; and helping me organise my thoughts.
- Emotional support, including managing anxiety and overwhelm; debriefing after events; reflecting on my own support needs; support implementing coping strategies and safety plans.
- Emotional and practical support with tidying and decluttering. Helping make decisions around organising the home environment. Prompting and encouragement to motivate tidying activities. Practical support to sort belongings to keep/sell/donate including listing items for sale on Ebay and bagging up items to donate.
- On occasion, to provide support outside of the home. This might be to go on a walk to the park for wellbeing, or to accompany local journeys on public transport to unfamiliar places.
- Healthcare management including support to keep track of symptoms and assistance communicating with medical practitioners.
The main duties identified in this job description are examples of the expectations required; there may be occasions where you are reasonably requested to provide additional activities to be undertaken inside or outside of the home, and we can discuss and agree this together.
Personal Assistant Specification
Essential:
- Excellent command of English: I sometimes struggle to communicate and express myself both verbally and in written format, and need assistance.
- Good and efficient communicator: To liaise with institutions/professionals and advocate for me. I need advocacy and representation when liaising with said institutions.
- Computer literate: To help with documents/forms.
- Service literate: An understanding of Council and Government systems e.g. Repairs, DWP.
- Media literate: Help to suitably dispose of certain items (taking pictures, listing things online, engaging with enquiries to buy/pick up items).
- Physically capable and willing to do light to medium lifting and moving items around home.
- Willingness to travel throughout the borough of Camden on public transport and on foot for around 30 minutes.
Knowledge and approach:
- Mandatory autism-experienced or informed. It is very important that the PA is aware of autistic and ADHD needs, eating disorders, and trauma-informed approaches (e.g. not throwing things away without discussion and agreement, following employer’s lead/plan, being directed by employer rather than doing things for her/doing things the PA thinks are a good idea without discussion).
- Consistent and reliable. As much as possible you will stick to agreed plans and avoid last-minute change. If there are changes last-minute, we can agree a plan of what will happen.
- Awareness of sensory needs of autistic people and willing to mitigate and make reasonable adjustments to meet these. (e.g. not wear perfume, avoid strong smells etc.)
- Must practice honesty above tact: I have difficulty interpreting non-explicit communication.
- Patient, calm and gentle mannerism. Non-agitating or anxiety-inducing.
- Very patient demeanor. Able to adjust, slow down the pace of activities to match my abilities.
- Detail oriented; technical abilities/approach.
