My client is an established supplier of fashion apparel to leading UK high street retailers and online brands across a broad range of product categories. They are looking for a creative, trend-driven and experienced Licensed Girlswear Designer to join their growing design team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for licensing to play a key role in trend research, product design and development, while working closely with factories, licensors and the wider design and account management teams.
The Role
- Create innovative, commercial designs in line with customer briefs, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Research and identify key seasonal trends through regular store visits, online research and competitor analysis.
- Manage the design development process from initial concept through to production.
- Work closely with the Account Manager to ensure designs meet target cost prices from the outset.
- Liaise with the technical team to ensure specifications accurately reflect the design intent.
- Produce clear and detailed tech packs, artwork and sample requests for factories.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer handwriting and brand identity to create commercially successful ranges.
- Respond promptly to customer and factory queries throughout the development process.
- Liaise with licensors throughout the approval process, including concept submissions, strike-offs, PP samples and product approvals.
This is a London based position with Hybrid working, but also a possibility to be based within the Leicestershire office.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience within licensed apparel is preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree educated in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Print Design or a related discipline.
- Highly creative with a strong commercial eye and excellent trend awareness.
- Confident using Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and with external partners.
- A proactive team player with a positive, hands-on approach.
