I am partnering with a well-known brand who are globally recognised within the Apparel world! They are looking to appoint a new Garment Technologist into their Central London offices. You will work across all of their sports product for both Ladies and Men’s.
You will play an integral part in guiding styles from proto right through to sealing, where you will work with the wider teams to ensure products are fit to a high standard and in line with their brand aesthetics. You will also be responsible for the training and development of Junior members on the department.
Garment Technologist - Sportswear - The Role- Ensuring garments meet customers’ expectations in terms of performance and fit, whilst conforming to prevailing legislation and regulations.
- Conduct garment fittings with live model, confidence to seal and approve bulk products.
- Help to measure and prepare samples for fit meetings where required.
- Checking and approving wash care label information.
- Take responsibility for carrying out a range of technical, investigative work to ensure the product is delivered to the best of standards.
- Effectively communicate with the Far East supply chain.
- Factory liaison.
- Commercial decision making.
- Test report approvals and analysis.
- Set up trackers to keep on status of testing approvals.
- Block and fit reviews.
- Quality control reporting and analysis of product returns.
- Working with product team and designers to create new garment specs and collaborating to determine best fabric and trim combinations.
- Driving projects in line with business requirements.
- Assess and streamline administrative processes to optimise efficiency.
- 4+ years’ prior experience in Garment Technologist role.
- Technical training and understanding of pattern cutting.
- Strong knowledge of fabric, garment construction, technical drawing, measuring and fitting.
- Good understanding of garment construction, textiles and the manufacturing process.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage own time and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Problem solving mind-set.
- Building relationships is key to this role. Internal relationships with product and design teams. External relationships with supply base, technical labs and SMU partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly MS Excel.
- Experience working with sportswear product is preferable but not essential.
